Vehicle Glass Services in Birmingham
AI Auto Glass replaces every pane on a vehicle: windscreens, door glass, quarter glass, rear screens and van glass, across Birmingham and the West Midlands. We fit OEE glass, bond with Sika polyurethane, and carry out both static and dynamic ADAS calibration. Fitted at your home, workplace or site.
Which glass do you actually need replaced?
Most people arrive knowing something is broken but not knowing what it is called, which makes it hard to search for and easy to be quoted the wrong thing. Here is how the panes are named and what each one behaves like when it fails.
| Pane | Where it is | How it fails | Service |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windscreen | Front | Laminated, so it cracks and stays in one piece | Windscreen replacement |
| Door glass | The window that winds down | Toughened, shatters completely into fragments | Side window replacement |
| Quarter glass | Small fixed pane by the door frame or rear pillar | Toughened, shatters completely | Side window replacement |
| Rear screen | Back window, usually with heating lines | Toughened, shatters completely | Rear window replacement |
| Van screen | Front of a panel or crew van | Laminated, larger and flatter than a car screen | Van windscreen replacement |
The quickest way to tell what you are looking at
If the glass cracked but stayed in place, it is laminated, and that means it is your windscreen. If it disappeared into thousands of small blunt pieces, it is toughened, and that means it is a side or rear pane. Laminated glass can sometimes be repaired. Toughened glass never can, because the whole pane releases at once.
Our vehicle glass services
Mobile Windscreen Replacement
The core job. Your screen identified from the registration, fitted at your home, workplace or site rather than you driving damaged glass across the city.
Side Window Replacement
Door and quarter glass, usually after a break-in. Includes clearing the fragments out of the door cavity, which is the step cheap quotes leave out.
Rear Window Replacement
Back screens with heated demister grids, printed aerials, wipers and privacy tint, matched to what your vehicle actually carries.
Van Windscreen Replacement
Panel vans, crew vans, tippers and Lutons, fitted at your yard or job site so the van is not losing a day travelling.
Commercial Fleet Glass
Several vehicles at one site in a single visit, with each registration checked individually because identical looking vans often take different glass.
ADAS Calibration
Static and dynamic camera calibration after a screen change, done to your manufacturer’s procedure rather than whichever is quicker.
Not sure which you need? Send a photo of the damage with your registration and we will tell you.
What stays the same across every job

The pane changes. The standards do not. Three things apply whether we are fitting a hatchback windscreen or a quarter glass on a taxi.
OEE glass. Original equipment equivalent, made to the same specification as the pane your vehicle left the factory with, often by the same manufacturers, without the vehicle brand logo. It meets the same safety standards and costs less than main dealer glass. Where a vehicle genuinely needs OEM, usually Head Up Display or some acoustic screens, we say so.
We bond with Sika
Sika polyurethane, used in factory installation and aftermarket replacement alike. Your safe drive away time is calculated from the product used and the conditions on the day, not an advertised flat figure.
We calibrate both ways
Static and dynamic. The manufacturer decides which your vehicle needs, and on some cars it is both in sequence.
We clear up properly
Fragments out of door cavities, runners, boots and footwells. Left behind, they scratch new glass and jam window mechanisms weeks later.
We guarantee the fitting
Against water leaks, wind noise, bonding failure and workmanship. If any appear afterwards, call us and we come back.
How much does vehicle glass replacement cost in Birmingham?
Every pane is priced on what your specific vehicle takes, so a headline figure would be wrong for most people reading it. What we can give you is the published market context, so you can judge any quote you receive, ours included.
| What | Typical 2026 UK figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Windscreen, standard car | £250 to £400 for most drivers | UK cost guides |
| Car window (side or rear) | £100 to £200 on many vehicles | RAC, citing whocanfixmycar |
| Independent glazier average | £243 | myWindscreen, 2026 |
| National chain average | £659 | myWindscreen, 2026 |
| ADAS static calibration | £150 to £250 | Published calibration guides |
| ADAS dynamic calibration | £200 to £350 | Published calibration guides |
The two averages are worth reading twice. myWindscreen recorded a 2026 average of £243 from independent glaziers against £659 from the national chains on comparable vehicles. Same safety standards, different overheads.
Figures are published UK market data, not AI Auto Glass prices. Send your registration for the actual number for your vehicle.
Who we are not the right choice for
Worth saying plainly, because it saves everyone a phone call.
Chip repair as a standalone job
Our core work is replacement. If your damage is small and well placed a repair may be cheaper and possible, and we will tell you that rather than sell you a screen.
National fleet contracts
If you need guaranteed nationwide SLAs and a managed claims portal, a national network fits better than we do.
Sunday and out of hours
We are open Monday to Saturday, 08:30 to 20:00. Sunday messages are answered Monday morning.
Window mechanism faults
If the glass is intact and only the regulator has failed, that is an auto-electrical repair, not a glazing job.
Questions before you choose a service
Can I get more than one pane done in the same visit?
Usually yes, provided we can source both. A break-in that took a door glass and a quarter glass is one job, not two visits.
It does affect timing, particularly if one pane is bonded and the other is not, so mention everything that is damaged when you enquire rather than the worst of it.
Do you replace glass on any make of vehicle?
We work from your vehicle specification rather than a list of approved makes, so the practical limit is glass availability, not badge. Common models are usually straightforward, and rarer vehicles depend on what the suppliers hold.
Send the registration and we will confirm availability before you commit to anything.
Which service do I need if my car was broken into?
Almost always side window replacement, since forced entry usually goes through a door or quarter pane. Occasionally the rear screen instead.
Tell us if it was a break-in specifically. It changes the job, because fragments spread through the door and cabin and clearing them properly is part of doing it right.
Does my vehicle need calibration, and how would I know?
If there is a camera housing behind your rear-view mirror, or your car has lane keep assist or automatic emergency braking, then very likely yes after a windscreen change.
You do not have to work it out. Send the registration and we will tell you before booking, because a calibration vehicle needs a longer slot.
How soon can I drive after the work is done?
On side and rear glass with no bonding, as soon as the trim is back on. On a bonded windscreen or rear screen, the adhesive has to reach safe drive away strength first.
That figure depends on the Sika product used and the conditions that day, and the technician confirms it for your installation before you move the vehicle.
